UK/Nigeria Documentary mentoring and training programme

Naija Street Stories

In partnership with British Council, Triggshot Productions and FMA Productions, Hatch Africa is currently providing aspiring filmmakers with the opportunity to benefit from a hands on documentary training and mentoring programme, where they will get to shoot a documentary film, which will be shown as part of British Council UK/NG 2015-2016.

Over the summer, applicants from across Nigeria aged 18 – 25 years old were invited to submit a documentary story idea, with a woman at its core.

We received many fantastic entries and wonderful ideas, and our panel of award-winning and industry leading judges were truly inspired.

Finalists

We are delighted to announce the THREE STORIES that have been chosen for development as part of the ‘Naija Street Stories’ film training and mentoring programme.

“Victoria the Nurse” by Brenda Ogbuka (Ebonyi State)

“Laraba The Rock Breaker” by George Joel (Jos, Plateau State)

“Hajiya Halima – Success Against All odds” by Jennifer Kwalo (Jos, Plateau State)

These three stories that have been selected will now be developed during a weeklong training programme being held from 12th - 16th October 2015.

One story will then be selected to be shot on location in November and will be shown as part of the British Council's UK/NG 2015-2016.

The course is being lead by Frank Macaulay of Nigerian-based FMA Productions with support from UK-based documentary filmmaker Adeyemi Michael.
